Scott Grobstein Biography – Scott Grobstein Wiki

Scott Grobstein is the son of Les Grobstein, a longtime Chicago sports radio reporter and 670 The Score overnight host. Affectionately known as “The Grobber” to listeners, Les Grobstein has been a staple on 670 The Score, where he has been a regular on-air in overnights since 2009.

Les was a Chicago native and Columbia College graduate, beginning his career as a Northwestern Basketball commentator in 1970. Spending his career in sports, Les worked as an announcer for various sports teams, a reporter for Sportsphone Chicago, as the Sports Director at WLS 890-AM and as a reporter for WMVP-1000, before settling into his long-time home with 670 The Score.

Les Grobstein recorded then-Cubs manager Lee Elia’s famous profanity-laced postgame rant about Cubs fans. He was at Wrigley Field on April 29, 1983, when Elia went off on Cubs fans following a loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The crowd threw garbage at Keith Moreland and Larry Bowa as they made their way from the dugout to the clubhouse afterward. The 4-3 loss dropped the Cubs to 5-14 and Elia’s frustration spilled out during a lengthy tirade, which Grobstein captured on his tape recorder. To this day, clips of Elia’s salty rant are replayed on sports shows all over when memorable tirades are mentioned.
