Sajid Akram Biography – Sajid Akram Wikipedia
Sajid Akram was a Pakistani-Australian fruit shop owner and one of the alleged shooters in the deadly attacks at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia. He died at the scene while his 24-year-old son, Naveed Akram, was apprehended at the shooting and was taken to hospital where he remains under police guard in a critical but stable condition.
The two gunmen involved in the attack targeting Sydney’s Jewish community had told their family they were going on a South Coast fishing trip. Speaking with the Sydney Morning Herald as police surrounded her house in Bonnyrigg in Sydney’s west, Naveed’s mother Verena said her son had gone to Jervis Bay with his father for the weekend.
NSW Police confirmed at least 12 people were shot dead and 29 injured, including two police officers, at Sydney’s Bondi Beach after the gunmen opened fire on a large crowd celebrating a Jewish festival. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said it was a targeted attack on Jewish Australians, and an act of evil antisemitism.
“No stone will be left unturned. We will be following all people linked to those gunmen that we know, and we’ll take action to keep the community safe,” NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said. “This type of disgraceful activity, this wanton use of violence, the taking of innocent lives, is unacceptable to NSW.”
