On October 15, 2019, Ron Ely’s wife Valerie was found murdered at the Hope Ranch residential community along the Santa Barbara coast where the couple lived.
According to Lt. Erik Raney, spokesman for the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, authorities received a call for help after 10 p.m. in the 4100 block of Mariposa Drive in Hope Ranch. When they arrived, deputies located an elderly woman who had been stabbed to death. Shortly thereafter, the suspect was found hiding in the same home as the victim. And when deputies approached the suspect, he allegedly threatened them with a weapon and was fatally shot. The suspect has been identified as Ron Ely’s son Cameron Ely.
Lundeen and Ely previously lived their home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, but the couple sold the property on Casale Road in 1987.
