Richard E. Mrazik is a judge for the Utah district court. He was appointed to the Third District Court in April 2018 by Governor Gary R. Herbert. He took the bench in June 2018 and serves Salt Lake, Summit, and Tooele counties.
Judge Mrazik received a Bachelor’s Degree in sociology and biology from Bowdoin College in 1999. After serving as an Americorps member at the Fourth Street Clinic in Salt Lake City, Utah, he received his law degree from the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah in 2005.
Prior to joining the bench, Judge Mrazik was a shareholder in the litigation department of Salt Lake City-based Parsons Behle & Latimer. At Parsons, Judge Mrazik pursued a diverse civil practice, representing both plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury, product liability, and real property matters, and also representing the Town of Alta.
Born and raised in Connecticut, Judge Mrazik served on the board of directors of the Utah Bar Foundation from 2013 to 2019. He currently serves on the Utah Judicial Council’s Standing Committee on Resources for Self-Represented Parties and on the board of directors of the Utah Avalanche Center.
