Ray Lewis III is a former college football player and son of NFL legend Ray Lewis, who starred in the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens and in college with the Miami Hurricanes. Lewis III was a star running back in high school at Lake Mary Prep in Florida, and played in college at Miami, Coastal Carolina and Virginia Union.

Lewis III attended Lake Mary Prep High School in Florida, where he was a running back. He rushed for 5,283 yards and 53 touchdowns in three seasons, according to Max Preps. He was rated as a three-star running back as a recruit, according to 247/Sports.

Lewis III went on to play college football at the University of Miami, where he was on the practice squad as a freshman in 2013. After one season at Miami, Lewis transferred to Coastal Carolina University, a Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) program.

His career there came to a halt in 2016 when he was dismissed from the team and the university after being indicted by a South Carolina grand jury on a charge of third-degree criminal sexual assault, the Orlando Sentinel reported. After a lengthy investigation, those charges were dropped by law enforcement.

He would later finish his college career off with the Virginia Union Panthers in 2017.

In 2021, Lewis signed with the Wyoming Mustangs professional indoor football team. He appeared in seven games for the Wyoming Mustangs in the Champions Indoor Football league during the 2021-22 season.

Aside from football, Ray III was an aspiring rapper, dropping singles and music videos on his social media account over the past few years.

On her Instagram stories, Diaymon Lewis remembered Lewis III, writing: “brownie, i love with all my heart. you will always be my first love and truly are the definition of a quintessential brother. To the most genuine and talented person i know, go get your rest baby and i’m glad you’re at peace. fly high baby.”

In a second slide, she wrote, “i’m not okay.”

“Ray was a tremendous young man who played with the spirit of a lion,” his former coach at Virginia Union, Mark James, told the Baltimore Sun. “He was a great asset to the Virginia Union family. He will always be a Panther. May God bless his family.”
