Paulette Thompson is wife of Brian Thompson, the UnitedHealthcare CEO who was fatally shot on Wednesday, Dec. 4, as he was heading to an investor conference for UnitedHealthcare’s parent company at the New York Hilton Midtown. She works as a physical therapist at the Park Nicollet Health Services clinic in Minneapolis.

Brian Thompson and his wife, Paulette “Pauley” Thompson, had been dwelling in separate homes less than a mile from each other in Maple Grove, Minnesota, for years, the Wall Street Journal reported. In 2018, Brian Thompson purchased his separate $1 million home near where his wife and sons were living, according to public real estate records.

After UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed on a Manhattan street, both homes owned by his family in Maple Grove received a bomb threat that evening, Maple Grove police officials said.

Police said they received a report of the threat around 7 p.m. Wednesday supposedly targeting the residences that are about a half-mile apart. Police incident reports said the threat was expressed in an email to multiple people, who in turn alerted law enforcement. It turned out to be an act of “swatting.”

“No devices or suspicious items were located during the investigation,” according to a statement from police. ”The case is considered an active investigation, while the incident appears to be a hoax.”
