Paul B Kidd (born Paul Benjamin Kidd) was an Australian author, journalist, and radio show host. He began his radio career as a fishing and boating commentator on 2UE where he later co-hosted the weekend show, The George and Paul Show, with George Moore from 2001 until 2020.

The duo moved to 2GB radio in 2018 before Kidd began co-hosting Weekends with John and Paul with John Stanley in 2020. He co-hosted Weekends with John and Paul with fellow host John Stanley on 2GB until his death.

Kidd was a prolific true crime writer, publishing several books on high-profile murders around Australia. His work included books titled Australia’s Serial Killers, Never to be Released and 50 Australian Crimes of the 20th Century.

Legendary Australian radio broadcaster Paul B Kidd passed away on 26 December 2021, after a protracted illness, aged 76. The news was confirmed by 2GB reporter Clinton Maynard on Twitter. Maynard tweeted: “Very sad news, legendary broadcaster & friend Paul B. Kidd has passed away. One of the most successful radio broadcasters of the last 20 years. You will be missed mate.”

Maynard said Mr Kidd’s passing would have a profound impact on the Australian radio industry. Maynard told 9 News: “It’s devastating for all of us in the radio business, particularly this radio station and this radio network. To demonstrate the significance of Paul B. Kidd as a radio broadcaster, 2UE was not the dominant station in Sydney for many years.

“George and Paul’s program on weekends was number one for years. And that had so much to do with Paul’s amazing relationship with George Moore and his amazing relationship with the listeners. He was a unique Australian character that listeners could relate to.”

2GB’s breakfast show host Ben Fordham paid tribute to the late radio star, writing: “Lovely tributes on @2GB873 for radio champion Paul B Kidd. He was a generous soul and offered me plenty of support over the years. Paul was a true crime writer, television producer, radio host and raconteur. We love you mate. And we’ll miss you.”

2GB producer Spiro Christopoulos also offered his condolences on Twitter. Christopoulos wrote on Twitter: “Sad news today that legendary radio host and crime writer Paul B Kidd has passed away. Very talented and all rounded broadcaster. @stanley_radio paying tribute to the great man this morning on @2GB873 Breakfast.”

“You just know, you just know, John, when something’s working,” his long-term partner in crime George Moore said to John Stanley. “You know deep down inside that you’ve got a chemistry. We were so, so different to each other but, and here’s the thing many people probably don’t know, … our childhoods had a lot of similarities.”
