Orry Shand is a Scottish Chef and owner of Falls by Orry Shand, a fine dining restaurant in the heart of Royal Deeside, Banchory. He was previously the Executive Chef of Scottish catering company Entier Ltd. He is appearing on the Great British Menu 2026 on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.
A native of Ellon in Aberdeenshire, Orry began his culinary career aged 14. From there, he moved to Edinburgh to work at Number One Restaurant at The Balmoral Hotel (1 Michelin star at the time). He then honed his craft further at the two Michelin-starred Restaurant Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles hotel in Perthshire.
Returning to Aberdeen, Orry joined the opening team at The Chester Hotel. In 2017, he joined Entier Ltd, one of Scotland’s largest independent catering firms. As Executive Chef, Orry built a reputation for precision, creativity, and seasonality, while overseeing a production and retail kitchen, catering private dining and events, and mentoring apprentice chefs.
Awards/achievements
Orry has earned major accolades including Scottish Chef of the Year 2019 and National Chef of the Year 2024–25 at The Craft Guild of Chefs competition in London. He also represented Scotland on an international stage at the 2024 IKA Culinary Olympics in Stuttgart, Germany.

Speaking about his appearance on the Great British Menu, Orry told The Caterer: “It was a great experience. I’ve never, ever done something like it before. I’ve never been on TV. And I think it’s super good for the restaurant having the PR off the back of it.”
