Nik Wallenda Biography – Nik Wallenda Wiki

Nik Wallenda born Nikolas Wallenda is a high-wire walker and the seventh generation of The Flying Wallendas. He started tightrope walking when he was 2 years old.

On Sunday, June 23, 2019, Nik and his sister Lijana Wallenda successfully crossed a 1,300-foot-long wire, strung between two skyscrapers in Times Square — both wearing safety harnesses as required by New York City. Nik and Lijana started on opposite ends of the wire, Lijana at Times Square 2 and Nik at Times Square 1. They met in the middle and continued to the opposite ends. To do this, Nik had to pause until Lijana could reach him. She then sat on the wire as Nik stepped over her.

Wallenda will on March 4, 2020, walk 1,800-feet across the mouth of the active Masaya volcano in Nicaragua. According to dick clark productions, this will mark Nik’s longest and highest highwire walk ever attempted.

Karl died in March 1978 at the age of 78, during a high wire walk in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is not the only family member the Wallendas have lost in a high wire accident: according to CBS News, Karl’s sister-in-law fell to her death in 1945. Karl’s son Mario was paralyzed in a fall.
