Nelson Cade, III is a contestant on the eighteenth season of the American reality television show The Voice which premiered on February 24, 2020, on NBC. He performed a Stevie Ray Vaughn song on The Voice and all the judges turned their chairs. He, however, decided to join Team Legend.
He was raised in a strict Christian household where he and his siblings weren’t allowed to listen to the radio. After starting first grade, he begged his parents for piano lessons. They agreed, under the condition that he couldn’t quit once he started. Nelson mastered piano, learned the guitar and eventually began singing.
At 15, the upcoming singer started dating Stephanie, who is now his fiancée, the same year he lost his little brother to brain cancer. Stephanie became his rock during the hardest part of his life and is still the biggest supporter of his music after 12 years together. Nelson recently quit his job to pursue music full-time.
According to his official website, he is a native of Orange County, California, where he attended Orange County School of the Arts and then Anaheim High School, graduating in 2010. Cade was “discovered” walking through a farmers’ market in downtown Los Angeles in 2018. He was carrying his guitar and an organizer of the market asked him if he wanted to play there. Since then, he has been performing at a variety of venues in Southern California, including the House of Blues in Anaheim and the Segerstrom Center of the Arts in Costa Mesa.
