Natasha Francis Biography – Natasha Francis Wiki

Natasha Francis is an antiques dealer, dealer on The Bidding Room, and founder of The Urban Vintage Affair, the lifestyle brand offering exclusive antique, vintage and handmade crafted pieces for 21st-century living. Since launching The Urban Vintage Affair in 2017, it has won a WOW Award for outstanding Woman in Business, and is a prestigious #SmallBusinessSunday winner, as chosen by Dragons’ Den legend Theo Paphitis.

A self-confessed antique shopaholic, Natasha got into the antiques business after a successful career within the fashion industry where she honed her sourcing and development skills. She worked with luxury fashion designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Pringle of Scotland and All Saints.

The fashion industry was great, but it didn’t feed her fascination for handmade and historical items. So, she decided to study antiques and collectables and travelled the country, rummaging through Auction houses, Antique shops, High-end trade fairs, and Muddy Car boots sales in the British countryside. She also visited the Netherlands, France, and the United States to source intriguing, useful and timeless pieces which add detail and individuality to contemporary living.

Natasha is best known as a dealer in The Bidding Room on BBC One. The TV antique expert feels antiques should be for everyone and is on a mission to make antiques appeal to a young audience. When it comes to the items she loves, it’s all about functionality: She loves Victorian silverware, any other antique cutlery and furniture. She loves buying antique suitcases and chests that can be repurposed to have a life beyond luggage!

In an interview with Source Vintage, Natasha revealed how she got into the antiques and vintage trade, saying, “At a young age I was already interested in the vintage delights in my nana’s house and found second hand stores and car boot sales fascinating. I began collecting random items from the age of 6 or 7. At the start of my brand’s journey in 2015, I studied hard on business, marketing and antiques courses. I attended many eye opening and life changing seminars and networking groups. And I spent far too much time boring my friends whilst I rummaged through auction houses and antique fairs.

“Even with a full time job in Fashion, I managed to research my market and product mix, and attended national and international trade fairs, markets and events. I also found it useful to join lots of groups and speak to more professionals in the field of antiques. Determined to not just be an e-tail store, but a brand to give in-depth information and creative inspiration into the world of antiques.”
