Mo Martin is an American professional golfer. She plays on the LPGA Tour. Born Melissa Linda “Mo” Martin, started playing golf at the age of 4. She attended Chandler School. Martin played college golf at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she recorded seven top-20 finishes and was a member of the winning 2004 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship team. Martin also represented the United States, in the Junior World Japan Cup between 1991 and 1995, and was the individual winner of the 1991 Junior World Japan Cup. During her fourth year in college her father had a heart attack and passed away thus Martin moved back in with my mom and got a job at Annandale Country Club in Pasadena, California.
Martin turned professional in 2005, on January 23, 2006, she joined the Futures Tour. She competed in the 2007 U.S. Women’s Open and missed the cut. In 2011, she got 11 top-10 finishes and 1 win, thus earned full playing privileges on the LPGA Tour for the 2012 season. In 2014, Martin earned her first major championship and also her first LPGA Tour title, at the Women’s British Open. Martin received the 2010 Futures Tour’s Heather Wilbur Spirit Award, which is awarded annually to the player who “best exemplifies dedication, courage, perseverance, love of the game and spirit toward achieving goals as a professional golfer.” She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she graduated in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
