Massimo Piedimonte Biography – Massimo Piedimonte Wiki

Massimo Piedimonte is the chef and owner of Cabaret l’Enfer, an Italian-French fine-dining restaurant in Montréal, Quebec, Canada. He is a contestant on Season 22 of Top Chef.

Chef Massimo was born in Montréal into an Italian family where food has always been at the heart of every conversation. He got his start in the industry working in a pizzeria at the age of 16. His first foray into the professional kitchen was while attending college and taking a summer job as a chef.

Trained in the French style, Massimo finessed his techniques in restaurants across the city until landing a job as chef de partie under chef Daniel Boulud at Maison Boulud, later doing a four-month stage with chef René Redzepi at NOMA in Copenhagen, which was named the best restaurant in the world in 2021. Upon his return to Montréal, Massimo joined Le Mousso as an executive chef.

Massimo went on to guide his team to win Restaurant of the Year (Les Lauriers de la Gastronomie Québécoise 2018) and to be named one of the top ten restaurants in Canada (Canada’s 100 Best 2019). As a result, he won the One to Watch Young Chef Award (Canada’s 100 Best 2019).

In 2022, he opened his own fine-dining restaurant Cabaret l’Enfer, featuring a tasting menu experience that showcases his bold cooking style, celebrating local seasonal ingredients, hospitality and the arts. The menu at Cabaret l’Enfer is the sum of Massimo’s past experiences: his Italian heritage, his training in classical French cuisine, his internship at the famous restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, and Mousso in Montréal.

Cabaret l’Enfer was named #2 best new restaurant in Canada (2023) by Canada’s 100 Best.
