Mark Hanretty is a professional skater choreographer and ice dancer. In 2021, he commentated on the ISU World Figure Skating Championships for the ISU live stream. He is known for his appearances on ITV’s Dancing on Ice show. The Scottish started figure skating in 1995 but later switched to ice dancing in 2004. After the switch, he competed with Lauren Bradshaw as his partner.
At the end of December 2005, Hanretty and his then partner Christina Chitwood, an American ice dancer announced their partnership. After a few months, the couple started training together but briefly stopped after his partner contracted mononucleosis (glandular fever). In January 2007, the couple made their debut in the British Championships at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham, England, where they finished in 7th place.
In January 2008, they won their first medal, a bronze at the 2008 British Championships at IceSheffield in Sheffield. At the end of 2008, the National Ice Skating Association (NISA) selected them to join the Great Britain Squad. In September 2008, they made their international debut with Team Skate G.B. at the 2008 Nebelhorn Trophy in Oberstdorf, Germany, where they finished in 10th place.
In November 2008, Hanretty and Christina Chitwood played their second international competition with Team Skate G.B. and won the bronze medal at the Pavel Roman Memorial in Olomouc, Czech Republic. They went on to compete at the 2009 British Championships at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham, they placed fourth in both competitions.
The couple secured a place at the 2009 European Championships in Helsinki, where they finished in 18th place. He retired in 2010.

On January 20, 2013, Hanretty suffered a shoulder dislocation as he was about to perform the survival skate, he was treated and completed the performance. They were eliminated at the end of the show.
In 2018, he returned for the 10th series partnered was Donna Air. In 2019, he competed on the 11th series paired with The Apprentice veteran Saira Khan. For the 12th series he partnered with Paralympic sprinter Libby Clegg and for the 13th series, Hanretty was paired with The Only Way Is Essex actor, Billie Shepherd. In 2021, it was announced that Hanretty will be participating in the 14th series of ITV’s Dancing on Ice. He is partnering with The Pussycat Dolls singer and dancer Kimberly Wyatt.
