Marina Wheeler born Marina Claire Wheeler is a British lawyer, author, and columnist. She is also famously known for being the wife of Borris Johnson who is the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and also the Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. Being a barrister, she specializes in public law, that includes human rights and is a member of the Bar Disciplinary Tribunal. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in February 2016.

She went to school at the European School of Brussels, and then in the early 1980s at Fitzwilliam College at Cambridge University, where she wrote for the student magazine Cantab. After Cambridge University, she then returned to Brussels for work and she was there for four years. She was called to the Bar, practicing from chambers in London at One Crown Office Row in 1987. In her period working as a barrister, she specializes in mental health matters and discrimination claims. She was appointed to the B-Panel of Junior Counsel to the Crown in January 2004. In the year 2009, she joined the Bar Disciplinary Tribunal as a barrister member.

Of her legal work, Wheeler has stated: My own experience, shared by many colleagues, is that a high proportion of discrimination cases we deal with are ill-founded. One colleague puts the figure at more than 60 percent… Many unregulated advisors make a living bringing discrimination claims, and they do not always seem to have the best interests of the Applicant in mind.

It was also announced that divorce proceedings had begun. They reached a financial settlement in February 2020. The prime minister reached the agreement relating to money at London’s Central Family Court. The details of the arrangement were not disclosed.
