Lia Gold is a Scottish-Italian interior designer and a contestant on the BBC’s Interior Design Masters 2026. She grew up just outside Glasgow in a lively Scottish Italian family. Her love for DIY started as a young child after watching her father transform old stables into their family home.
After a career in retail, she now pursues commercial interiors, creating bold, botanical maximalist spaces and championing experimentation while encouraging more women to embrace DIY. She describes her design style as “Sophisticated, Joyful and Botanical.”
Interior Design Masters 2026
Lia Gold is a contestant on Season 7 of the BBC’s Interior Design Masters with Alan Carr. In series 7, Alan tasks 10 designers with reimagining eight incredible spaces, from beach huts to castle hotels. Weekly Stand Out Spaces lead to one winner who’ll launch their own homewares range. Interiors guru Michelle Ogundehin will return as head judge, joined each week by a roster of guest judges.
Lia has been obsessed with the show since Series 1. She gained confidence to apply to be part of Interior Design Masters after “being given creative freedom to redesign several staff rooms at my job in retail and seeing the impact my designs had on people. I knew I wanted to keep feeling that magical spark.”
Lia said viewers can expect the most “ambitious and competitive contestants yet!” She added: “Every week we pushed ourselves to the absolute limits of what can be achieved in just two days, and I think we surprised ourselves every week too (and the poor trades!). There were a lot of tense moments, and we were constantly fighting for time, right down to the last second of every challenge.
“The talent is so high this year and the spaces are magical. I think viewers will be genuinely surprised by the creative risks everyone was willing to take, even with the constant threat of ending up on Michelle’s sofa if it didn’t come out quite right!”
