Leján Lewthwaite is a South African professional golfer. She currently competes on the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the Sunshine Ladies Tour. She previously played on the LET Access Series (LETAS). Lewthwaite began playing golf at the age of 9 but became more focused on golf after turning 17 years. As an amateur, Lewthwaite won the 2011 Johnny Imes Invitational. Lewthwaite turned professional in early 2016. She played in eight tournaments in the 2017 LET Access Series (LETAS) and recorded a best finish a T10 at the Foxconn Czech Ladies Challenge.
In 2018, Lewthwaite competed in 4 events in the Ladies European Tour events and then secured her Ladies European Tour card for the 2019 season after finishing T10 at the LET qualifying school. Lewthwaite played 12 events on the LET in 2019 and made seven cuts. She earned two top-10 finishes including a season-best finish of 9th at the Jabra Ladies Open, to retained her LET card. On February 21, 2019, Lewthwaite earned her first professional title on the Sunshine Ladies Tour at the 2019 South African Women’s Masters. She won it in the playoff over fellow South African, Kajal Mistry. In 2020, she earned two back-to-back victories on the Sunshine Ladies Tour including at the SuperSport Ladies Challenge and a week later she won at Dimension Data Ladies Pro-Am after defeating fellow South African, Stacy Bregman by 8 strokes.
Lewthwaite attended St.Dominic’s school for girls and the Gavin Levenson Golf Academy in South Africa. In 2011, Lewthwaite was awarded a full golf scholarship to Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where she played her collegiate golf. While there, Lewthwaite earned her first NCAA division 1 collegiate tournament in her second start. She graduated (Cum Laude) with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science in 2015.
