Lauren Bennett was a British singer, best known as a member of the girl groups G.R.L. and Paradiso Girls, as well as a featured artist on the hit LMFAO song “Party Rock Anthem.”
Born in Meopham, Kent, UK, Bennett entered The X Factor as a teenager. After she was sent home, having made it to the final 12, she was asked to audition for a new girl group called Paradiso Girls. Upon joining the band, Bennett moved to Los Angeles at the age of 17. The group would release the single Patron Tequila featuring Lil Jon and Eve, reaching No 3 on the US dance club songs chart in 2009.
After Interscope dropped the Paradiso Girls in 2010, Bennett continued finding success as a soloist. Most notably, she guested on LMFAO’s inescapable earworm “Party Rock Anthem,” which spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2011. The track also topped Pop Airplay and reached No. 6 on Latin Airplay.
Bennett joined G.R.L., a five-piece all-women band. The group appeared on Pitbull’s 2014 single Wild Wild Love and had their biggest hit with Ugly Heart, which reached the UK Top 20 and the Top 5 in Australia and New Zealand. After the death of member Simone Battle in 2014, the band released a tribute single, titled “Lighthouse” in partnership with its G.R.L. Gives an Hour campaign supporting mental health in Battle’s honor, and the band ultimately split in 2015.
More recently, Bennett released songs “Reality” and “Hurricane” on her own and has also reunited with her fellow G.R.L. alums for various projects over the years. G.R.L. briefly reunited as a four-piece in 2020.

Party Rock Anthem singer Lauren Bennett died on May 29, 2026, at the age of 36, just one month before her 37th birthday, according to Kent and Medway Coroner records obtained by USA TODAY. The news was formally announced by her former band, G.R.L., in a heartfelt statement posted to their official Instagram page on Monday, July 6.
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Lauren,” the group wrote. “Our hearts are broken, and we cannot begin to express how much she meant to us. We will forever cherish the love, laughter, and countless memories she gave us. Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives, and she will be deeply missed and forever loved.”
They concluded: “Rest peacefully, sweet Lauren. You will always be in our hearts. Your GRLs, Em, Tash, and P,” naming members Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen.
Bennett’s cause of death is unclear. An inquest into the circumstances of her death is scheduled for October, according to Kent and Medway Coroner records.
Simone Battle Loss
In 2014, bandmate Simone Battle died by suicide at the age of 25. After the loss of Simone, the band released a tribute single, titled Lighthouse and teamed up with the mental health charity Give an Hour.
“There’s a lot of young people who are taking their own lives, and the music industry is so influential on youth,” Bennett said at the time. “Hopefully, for us, we would love to help at least one person.”
