Speaking to fellow TV sports presenter Gabby Logan on The Mid Point podcast, she said: “I don’t have a picture in my head of why a middle-aged, slightly overweight, mother-of-two could possibly be attractive.

“I can’t get my head around that. It’s not that I’m putting myself down, it’s not a lack of confidence or low self-esteem, it’s I just don’t know what that would look like.

“I will not be writing my own bio on dating websites,” she joked.

The daughter of football legend Sir Kenny Dalglish said she is hesitant to start dating out of fear she will waste her time. She said: “I don’t want to spend my precious free time with a random.

“But this is the thing, the thought of going on a date and spending an evening with someone and in the end of it thinking, “well I don’t really like you,” I would be so resentful of them taking up my time.

“Obviously vice versa, but I’m not bothered about it from their perspective.

“Bearing in mind I don’t get to see the people I do like quite often,” Kelly added. “But I do know unless I want to spend the rest of my life alone… and I’ve got no real thoughts about long-term relationships or anything like that.

“Imagine going out with somebody and you sit there halfway through and think, “God, this guy’s an idiot,” you’ve just wasted a babysitter.”
