Angela Tucker is a Judge of the 199th District Court in Collin County. She has served Collin County as Judge of the 199th District Court since 2012. Her term in office will end on December 31, 2028. She is the first African American judge in Collin County and only the second African American elected official.
As a child of divorced parents, Judge Tucker saw that knowledge of the law was power and that inspired her at a very young age to want to be a lawyer. She received a Bachelor of Arts in government from The University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern Methodist University School of Law.
She has been licensed for 23 years and has spent her entire legal career in Collin County handling cases in the 3 areas of law heard by her court – criminal, family, and civil.
Tucker is a former Collin County assistant district attorney. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, Collin County Bar Association, Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, McKinney Chamber of Commerce, and Curt B. Henderson Inns of Court.
She is also a member and past secretary of the Collin County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, a volunteer speaker for the Ruth Dowell Middle School Community in Schools Program, and a member of the Holy Family School McKinney Independent School District Parent Teacher associations.
