Josh Fitzpatrick is an award-winning multimedia meteorologist. He was most recently a meteorologist at WVIR-TV 29News in Charlottesville, VA. 42-year-old meteorologist Josh Fitzpatrick was arrested on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 in Ohio on a fugitive warrant. Court records from Gallia County Ohio indicate Fitzpatrick was due in court for an extradition hearing on April 23, 2025. According to Albemarle County Police Department, Fitzpatrick was charged with felony sexual extortion and unlawful creation of image of another.
“On Feb. 28, 2025, ACPD began a sexual extortion investigation after a victim reported an assault,” according to an Albemarle County Police news release. “The victim reported that after a consensual sexual encounter, they were extorted and threatened with the release of a video taken unknowingly and without consent.”
“Following that investigation, on April 9, 2025, ACPD obtained warrants for 42-year-old Joshua W. Fitzpatrick of Charlottesville, Va., for the felony sexual extortion and unlawful creation of image of another.”
“Investigators learned that Fitzpatrick had relocated to Ohio shortly after the investigation began. With the assistance of Ohio law enforcement, Fitzpatrick was arrested on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He is currently being held in Ohio awaiting extradition to Virginia.”
Police warned the former weatherman may have more victims and urged others to come forward.
