Joe Naufahu is a New Zealand actor and former professional rugby player. He started acting in 2005. According to his IMDb profile, Naufahu is known for Ghost in the Shell (2017), Spartacus (2010), and played Khal Moro in Game of Thrones (2011). During Joe Naufahu’s rugby career, he played for the Leicester Tigers and Glasgow Warriors, and briefly coached the Glasgow Hutchesons Aloysians as an assistant coach. He also played for New Zealand U19 and New Zealand U21 national team.

Naufahu graduated from the Auckland Grammar School where he played rugby. He later played for the Canterbury before playing for Southland. In 2001, he played rugby in the Super 12 Under 23 tournament for the Canterbury Crusaders. The following year, he moved to the United Kingdom and joined the Leicester Tigers. He made just two starts and made three appearances from the bench.

At the end of 2002, Naufahu joined the Glasgow Warriors. Naufahu made Glasgow’s first team and made his first-team debut and scored a try against Edinburgh on December 26, 2002, at Hughenden Stadium in a 10-10 draw. During the return fixture between Edinburgh and Glasgow, he as well scored a try and helped Glasgow win the match 45-33. The following season (2003- 2004), Naufahu suffered a serious knee injury and played for amateur side Stirling County as part of his rehabilitation.

Due to the injury, he had to quit his professional rugby career but played for amateur side Glasgow Hutchesons Aloysians in 2004- 2005. The injury made it hard for him to compete at the amateur level and was forced to quit again. Naufahu ended up as the Glasgow Hutchesons Aloysians coach.

In 2005, he made his acting debut in minor roles, and later one of the lead roles in the 2005 TV series The Market. Naufahu portrayed Mils Muliaina in the Rugby Union film The Kick in 2014, a biography of All Black Stephen Donald who kicked New Zealand’s winning penalty in the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Apart from acting, he runs a personal training business called Ludus Magnus in his hometown of Auckland, New Zealand.
