Jillian Cardarelli Parker is an American country singer-songwriter and actress. She is also known for her role as Janie Carson in Crossroad Springs. She’s also upset that her mom has to witness it all. “The fact that my mother, who has had stage 4 cancer for the last 12 years, has to now help her daughter navigate this, is very unfair,” Cardarelli said.

Country Music Star Battling Breast Cancer

Jillian Cardarelli was diagnosed with stage 2 invasive ductal carcinoma in May 2026 at age 33. Cardarelli received the breast cancer diagnosis on May 21, 2026. She was working on new music with acclaimed songwriter Jeffrey Steele and prepping to board a plane to Toronto to begin her second season on the show Crossroad Springs.

“One minute you’re focused on filming schedules, scripts, music and everything,” Cardarelli told People in an interview. “And the next thing is doctors, scans, pathology reports and words I’d never even … I feel like I’m learning a new language.”

Cardarelli recalled feeling a lump in her breast, and “something in [her] gut” told her to see a doctor. A malignant tumor was found “in an area of very dense tissue.”

“I’ve had areas in my breasts that have been diagnosed with dense fibrous tissue since I was 25 years old that I’ve been getting looked at by ultrasound a couple of times, but nothing was ever seen,” she explained. “But then, I felt something a little different to me. I knew my body. I was a little more tired.”

Breast Cancer Journey

On July 26, 2026, Cardarelli shared a major milestone in her breast cancer journey. “The first big step is behind me,” Cardarelli wrote in an Instagram post. “Now it’s time to heal while we wait for the next step in my treatment plan.”

“Thank you to the incredible team at Dana-Farber for your kindness, compassion, and support throughout such a challenging and stressful process,” she continued. “I’m truly so grateful to be in your care.”

In her update, Cardarelli concluded, “Thank you to everyone who has prayed for me, checked in, and lifted me up. One day at a time.”

Cardarelli has talked about her mother’s long battle with stage 4 colon cancer. Although members of Cardarelli’s family have faced their own cancer journeys, she admitted that it didn’t make her diagnosis any easier.

“I feel fear and sadness,” she said. “I’m like, ‘Why did this happen?’ I do not fit the profile of somebody that should get cancer at 33 years old. So yes, there’s a little bit of anger there. But I’m not angry at God. I’m leaning on Him more than ever.”
