James Stanley Watson is a potter and ceramic artist based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He is a contestant on The Great Pottery Throw Down 2025. He found his passion for pottery three years ago after joining a night class with his sister-in-law.
James operates from a home studio in East Belfast, Northern Ireland. Speaking about his work, he said: “Whether it’s a whimsical vase inspired by nature or a piece that echoes family memories, each creation reflects a moment, a story, or a spark of imagination. Through my ceramics, I aim to craft pieces that not only serve a purpose but also ignite joy, curiosity, and a sense of connection.” Working with clay has allowed him to explore themes of storytelling, connection, and transformation.
With a background in cake decorating, stage acting, and set design, James now works as a project manager for a consultancy firm and co-leads their LGBTQIA+ network. A horror movie fan, James enjoys experimenting with spooky themes but is also partial to a good rom-com!
