James Bye (born James Edward Bye) is an English stage and screen actor best known for portraying the iconic role of Martin Fowler in the BBC’s multi-award-winning soap EastEnders, which he took over in 2014.

He has previously had roles in the BBC One mini-series The Great Train Robbery and films including Hummingbird, The Hooligan Factory and Cemetery Junction alongside short films; ‘Apple’, ‘The Monument’ and ‘Jonathan Andrews’ which he co-wrote. On stage he has starred in several well-reviewed theatre productions; Ralph in ‘Tea & Sympathy’ and Ainger in ‘Young Woodley’ (Finborough Theatre).

Bye graduated from the Webber Douglas Academy in 2005. In his spare time, Bye is a keen golfer and sports enthusiast. He also enjoys writing, cooking and spending time with his family.
