Jaedyn Randell Biography – Jaedyn Randell Wiki

Jaedyn Randell is a New Zealand singer, voice actor and contestant on The Voice Australia 2024. At the age of 16, Randell was cast as the voice behind Disney’s Moana for a te reo Māori version of the hit film. She joined some of Moana’s original Kiwi cast members who were able to stay on for the te reo Māori version, including Rachel House, Temuera Morrison, Oscar Kightley and Jemaine Clement. She also voiced princess Anna in Frozen.

Hailing from Aotearoa, NZ, Randell took part in kapa haka and won a singing competition run by Kiwi children’s show What Now in 2013 at age 11. She blew audiences away in the audition rounds, when she sang covers of David Guetta’s Titanium, featuring Sia, and Alicia Keys’ This Girl Is On Fire.

In 2021, Randell was one of eight Māori artists who wrote and recorded songs for the second season of Māori Television’s Waiata Nation. She wrote and produced her first single Patupaiārehe, a song about identity. Randell’s battle with identity is what inspired her to write her first single.

“Growing up very fair skinned it was a struggle throughout my childhood and I always had an internal battle with that,” she told NZ Herald. “I didn’t want to sing about love, I want to sing about something that really mattered to me.”

Before being approached to be on Waiata Nation II, Randell alongside her grandparents were big fans of the show’s first season, watching every episode together during lockdown. Unfortunately, her grandfather passed away in September 2020.
