JD Witherspoon is known for being the son of the late American actor and comedian John “Pops” Witherspoon who died on October 29, 2019. He is a Comedian, Actor, and YouTuber. He was raised in Los Angeles California. He is currently the main host of the new Facebook Watch Trivia show Confetti.
He has worked on The Equalizer 2, Roman J. Israel Esq. and does voice-over work for animated shows on Adult Swim such as Lazor Wulf and The Jellies. His father was best known for his role as Willie Jones for the Friday series. John died suddenly at his Sherman Oaks, California, home on Tuesday at the age of 77, his family said in a statement on his Twitter page. The cause of his death has not been released.
“It is with deep sadness we have to tweet this, but our husband and father John Witherspoon has passed away. He was a Legend in the entertainment industry and a father figure to all who watched him over the years. We love you ‘POPS’ always & forever,” the Witherspoon family wrote.
He is survived by his wife Angela and his sons, J.D. Witherspoon and Alexander. In a statement made to Deadline, the Witherspoon family said “We are all in shock, please give us a minute for a moment in privacy and we will celebrate his life and his work together. John used to say ‘I’m no big deal,’ but he was a huge deal to us.”
