Hayley Rowlands is a ceramicist, social worker and contestant on The Great Pottery Throw Down 2025. She has been a social worker for over 30 years and originally found pottery as a way to relax outside her day job. Hayley spends a lot of time in nature with her husband, who works in conservation, and takes this inspiration through to her pottery.
Hayley designs and makes sculptures and hand thrown ceramics from her pottery studio on the Suffolk Coast. She also offers pottery teaching. Hayley uses unusual combinations of bright and muted colours on stoneware clay. She produces beautiful and unusual garden sculptures, alongside hand crafted pieces of jewellery and individual homeware pieces.
Hayley worked in therapeutic services for children around the UK before settling in her beloved Suffolk Coast. Her professional life underpinned her curiosity around resilience and trauma which has influenced her designs.
In her youth she was known by friends as ‘Wild Hayley’ due to her love of adventure and partying. These days Hayley’s ‘wildlife’ consists of bird watching, sea swimming, nature walking and attending a book club, although she still has a love of alternative music and attending the occasional festival.

55-year-old Hayley Rowlands is set to compete on Series 8 of The Great Pottery Throw Down. The show will see the her compete with 12 other UK pottery artists as they aim to show off their grand artistic designs and fight to be crowned champion of the show. The show is hosted by Derry Girls star Siobhan McSweeney and is judged by Keith Brymer Jones and Richard Miller.
The amateur potters will take on two challenges each episode, including a main make and skills test and hope to be crowned potter of the week along the way.
