Fernando Rapallini is an Argentine professional football referee who has been listed as an international referee for FIFA since 2014. He has officiated in the Argentine Primera División since 2011.

Rapallini made history in 2021 when he became the first South American referee to officiate at a European Championship, during UEFA Euro 2020 as part of an exchange programme within the framework of the cooperation agreement between UEFA and the South American Football Confederation CONMEBOL.

Argentinian referee Fernando Rapallini and his assistants joined the selected European referees for EURO 2020, while a Spanish refereeing team led by Jesús Gil Manzano joined CONMEBOL referees for the Copa América 2021 in Argentina and Colombia.

“The exchange of referees with CONMEBOL for our two flagship tournaments will enrich both competitions, and will enhance the experience of top referees,” said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin. “Europe and South America have so much football quality and tradition, including in refereeing. This exchange is a defining part of our cooperation programme, which will help us improve our competitions.”

“Among our permanent objectives at CONMEBOL is making our referees more professional and perfectly trained for the use of technological tools,” added CONMEBOL President Alejandro Domínguez. “We are convinced that a cooperation with UEFA in this field will greatly benefit both confederations. This is just the beginning. We will continue working to broaden and strengthen collaboration agreements with our friends at UEFA.”
