Ese Johnson Biography – Ese Johnson Wiki
Ese Johnson is an interior designer and a contestant on season 6 of Interior Design Masters. He is currently pursuing a BA at the British Academy of Interior Design. Originally from Nigeria, Ese moved to the UK in 2020 to pursue a master’s degree at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).
Ese is now the Development Manager for Minority Ethnic Health at Waverley Care, a Sexual Health Charity in Glasgow, Scotland. Before joining Waverley Care, he worked at Terrence Higgins Trust in community engagement and health promotion, and as a project manager engaging the public in sexual health service creation and delivery.
“One of the things I am most proud of is setting up the framework for Oxfordshire’s first community support project for gay and bisexual men and trans people,” Ese told Waverley Care. “I also have experience of working on academic research focused on HIV infection control and the eradication of HIV-related stigma in the global context.”

Ese Johnson is a contestant on Season 6 of Interior Design Masters, hosted by Alan Carr and judged by Michelle Ogundehin. He applied to be part of Interior Design Masters for the freedom to create amazing designs.
“Working in healthcare now, I don’t get many avenues to be creative and express that side of myself,” Ese told the BBC. “Interior Design Masters was my way of letting loose and tapping into a part of me I had shut down for so long. Also, it was my chance to get real-life experience of being a professional designer. How fun, who wouldn’t do that!”
Ese would love to design a room for Beyonce. He explained: “She was the first Black person that made me feel powerful as a Black person, and I see a lot of my culture influencing my design now, even though I didn’t know it back at the start of the show. I would want to express Boldness, Blackness, Brilliance in a Beyonce space, Cowboy Carter style!”

Ese Johnson is of Nigerian nationality. Reflecting on Black History Month, Ese told GCU Students’ Association: “For me, BHM is a time for me to reflect on my journey as a Nigerian man coming from Africa to Europe. It is also a time for me to remember what makes me who I am and how that is enough.
“It has also recently been a time for me to reflect on black history in a foreign land and understand how people of Black-African origin have shaped the journey of people like me in foreign countries like the UK.”
