She has been creating for years – from handmade wallpapers to staff room makeovers. She describes her design style as colourful, happy, and practical.
Asked why she decided to apply to be part of Interior Design Masters, Emma told the BBC: “I wanted to create change in my life and push my myself forward in a positive way. I’d always watched and loved the show; life is short so I thought ‘Why not?’”

53-year-old Emma Carvell is a contestant on Series 6 of BBC One’s Interior Design Masters, hosted by Alan Carr and judged by Michelle Ogundehin. Speaking about the series, the North Wales native said: “In this series the bar is high from the off!! Lots of creativity, fun and quest to get the best from us and our designs.”
Emma would love to design a room for actress Aimee Lou Wood. She said: “I think she is so full of life vitality and individuality it would be wonderful to do some designs for her.”
