Elliott Levine Biography – Elliott Levine Wiki
Elliott Levine is a judge for Branch 2 of the La Crosse County Circuit Court in Wisconsin. He was elected to the bench in April 2017, filling a vacancy created by the retirement of Circuit Judge Michael Mulroy. Prior to that, he was the head of the Wisconsin State Public Defender’s Office for the La Crosse region.
Judge Levine was sworn in by La Crosse County Circuit Judge Dale Pasell as the Circuit Court Branch 2 judge during the installation ceremony. It was Pasell who hired Levine to work as a public defender in 1990, and Pasell had publicly endorsed Levine’s candidacy for judge.
In brief remarks during the ceremony in a packed Branch 2 courtroom, Pasell said Levine has what it takes to be outstanding on the bench. “He has the intelligence, integrity and industry to serve as judge,” Pasell told La Crosse Tribune. “Perhaps more than that, he has the intangible characteristics of really caring about people and wanting to help them. For him, it wasn’t a campaign slogan, it’s who he is.”
During his 10-minute speech, Levine said he is honored and humbled to take his place on the bench, and thanked his family, friends and colleagues for their support and good wishes.
“I hope and I trust that you will all believe that I can execute these duties in a way that are not only fair to every individual who comes before us, but also gives the whole community a sense that there’s something real here, which is, we are working hard to continue the work that judges before me have done,” Levine said.
