Ella Freer is a 20-year-old makeup artist from Leicester and a contestant on series 6 of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star. She is currently a student at Solent University studying prosthetics and special effects design.
Growing up Ella didn’t feel like she fit in and felt like an outsider. Due to this, she often didn’t feel comfortable wearing make-up in public but as a teenager, she enjoyed playing with make-up at home in her bedroom. When she studied art and design at college, she felt like she found her people and felt comfortable in being creative and wearing make-up.
Starting her creative journey from a young age, expressing herself in drawings and photography and then discovering the world of makeup. She started sharing her work on social media and since then has always incorporated makeup into her creations.
Ella has had the chance to work at Mayflower Theatre on a variety of productions and events during her time in university, including Evita and Alice in Wonderland. Additionally, she has had the opportunity to work alongside many talented artists in various creative courses and learn important skills from them.
