Crazy Lu born Luther Yakanawa Cohen was a South African rapper and hip-hop star from Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. He was a former Jozi and YoTV member ‘Crazy Lu’ . News of his sudden demise was broken by his family to TshisaLIVE on Friday night. He died on November 8, 2019, in Cambodia where he had been residing for three years.
His genre of music was hip-hop and his style mainly involved crunk, thug rap, and gangsta. He was once accused of stealing from his former bandmate Da Les’s car also known as Leslie Mampe while performing at the Metro FM Heat Wave in Durban and left crucial evidence behind.
The apparent cause of his death was an asthma attack, a disease he had battled with his whole life ever since he was a child as said by his brother Marvin Cohen.

The news of his death was confirmed by his family to TshisaLIVE on Friday night. He died at 3 am on the morning of Friday, November 8, 2019, from an apparent asthma attack. He’s been an asthmatic his whole life. A year ago he fell into a coma from a bad attack,” His brother, Marvin Cohen, who was a former producer on SABC 1 entertainment show Live Amp, said they were informed of his death at around 3 am on Friday morning.
“All we know is that he died at 3 am this morning [Friday] from an apparent asthma attack. He’s been an asthmatic his whole life. A year ago he fell into a coma from a bad attack,” said Marvin.
He added that the family would be traveling to Cambodia on Sunday. He had been living in East Asia country for the past three years.
