Clea Shearer is the Co-founder of The Home Edit, host of “Get Organized with The Home Edit” on Netflix, and a New York Times best-selling author. Born and raised in Los Angeles, Shearer located to Nashville for her husband’s job as an Entertainment and Music Photographer with Getty Images. In Nashville, she met her business partner, Joanna Teplin. They founded a home organizing company, The Home Edit.
The Home Edit “organizes every space in the home, from bedrooms and kitchens, to closets and pantries. Every project receives meticulous attention to detail, carefully considered systems, and our signature stylized aesthetic,” according to the company’s website.
In an interview with Caroline Harper Knapp of House of Harper, the duo talked about how they met and started their business, saying, “We met in 2015 through a mutual friend who suggested we go to lunch, due to the fact we were both recent California transplants who moved to Nashville for their husband’s job, had kids the same age, and had independently planned on having their own organizing business upon moving. We went to lunch, and 4 hours later, we were business partners. That same night, we came up with our company name, designed our logo, bought our domain, and registered our LLC. Organizers are nothing if not efficient. Looking back, it’s probably ill-advised to essentially get married after a matter of hours, but when it’s meant to be it’s meant to be.”
Clea Shearer and her business partner Joanna Teplin host the home improvement series “Get Organized With The Home Edit” on Netflix. The Netflix series is executive produced by Reese Witherspoon. Witherspoon previously worked with Clea and Joanna to produce a similar show in 2018 called Master the Mess. The series only lasted one season.
She is an alum of the Parsons School of Design in New York, where she studied Design Management. She has worked in marketing and consulting for aesthetically-minded brands like The RealReal and Saks Fifth Ave, among others.
