Cari Peugeot Zielinski is the Chief Meteorologistat at WSBT, a dual CBS/Fox-affiliated television station located in South Bend, Indiana, United States. On Tuesday, July 6th 2021, WSBT announced Cari Peugeot as WSBT’s new Chief Meteorologist. “Cari has been a leader in the market and a critical part of the WSBT Weather Team for nearly 20 years,” WSBT said in a statement.
“Cari’s ability to accurately forecast is based on a solid education and a lot of experience with all of the nuances that make the weather in our area so challenging and unique. She will tackle this new role with the same professionalism she brings to you every day on WSBT First In the Morning,” the statement contiued. “Cari will continue to bring you the weather every weekday morning while also leading WSBT’s great team of meteorologists”
She is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington. Cari graduated with a degree in Geography/Meteorology and a minor in Telecommunications. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society. Originally Cari was interested in climatology, but she found her niche in forecasting and television instead. After graduating, she worked at WPBN/WTOM-TV in Traverse City, Michigan where she was the weekend meteorologist.
When she is not at work she enjoys paying a visit to the beaches on Lake Michigan during the summer, skiing in the winter, and also loves to cook, something she learned recently. She was pregnant and was in the advanced stages of her pregnancy in the year 2011 together with her fellow meteorologist Abby Weppler. John Haferkamp, the WSBT news director was faced with an unusual problem when the two meteorologists went on maternity leave because they were all due in the same week. Haferkamp brought on Erik Larson, who was a former intern in the station’s weather department and a Purdue graduate with a meteorology degree.
