Bo Williams is an American news anchor and reporter. He is the morning news anchor of Good Morning Tennessee and 4 p.m. weekday newscasts at WATE 6 On Your Side. He has ventured into the television business since 1989. He joined WATE 6 in July 2002. Previously, he had worked at WBRZ-TV, Baton Rouge, LA 1999-2002, WCBD-TV, Charleston, SC 1992-1999. His first job was a weekend anchor at WPDE-TV, Florence/Myrtle Beach, SC 1989-1992. In 1991 he was promoted to sports director.
Along with his anchoring duties, he is a producer of morning radio news hits, put together a weekly franchise piece called “Streetwise” in which it looks at various road concerns and/or projects, anchor Breaking News from the field, as well as serve as a mentor for the younger reporters, anchors, and producers.
He knows the importance of giving back to the community and is currently the President of the Advisory Board for the John T. O’Connor Senior Center in Knoxville. The Center provides a variety of programs to seniors in the Knoxville and surrounding area. He also volunteers a lot of his time to emceeing numerous events for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. In the past, he has served as a Cub Scout Den Leader as well as a youth soccer coach.
Some of the media awards and honors he has managed to take are Gambit Weekly, Best of Baton Rouge, South Carolina Associated Press Awards, Emmy Award, Best Newscast, and Media General Circle of Excellence.
He went to study for a Bachelor of Science in Mass Media Management from Miami of Ohio University.
His hobbies range from being with his family, college football, NASCAR, baseball, soccer, and yard work.
