Beth Chapman born Alice Elizabeth Smith, was an American-Italian producer and actress, known for Dog’s Most Wanted, Corner Gas (2004) and Dog the Bounty Hunter (2003).

She was the youngest ever to receive a bail license in the State of Colorado at age 29. That record was beat by her step-daughter, Lyssa Chapman, who became a licensed bounty hunter at age 19.

On September 14, 2017, Chapman revealed she has been diagnosed with stage II throat cancer two weeks ago after months of a nagging cough. After Chapman was diagnosed with cancer, her husband Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman decided to share her story with fans. The result was an A&E Special series Dog and Beth: Fight of Their Lives (2017). Duane documented her doctor’s visit, how Beth and Duane shared diagnosis with their family, the gruelling 13-hour surgery to have a stage II tumour removed and also the aftermath. Chapman later went cancer-free but the disease later returned and she ended up having an emergency surgery on November 27, 2018 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

On June 22, 2019, the Chapman family said in a statement that Beth had been admitted to the ICU at the Queen’s Medical Center and was in a medically-induced coma. The family also sent their “sincere thanks to everyone for their prayers throughout Beth’s battle with cancer.”

Hawaii-based bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman, in a statement said “Please say your prayers for Beth right now thank you love you.”

On June 22, 2019, the Chapman family said in a statement that Beth had been admitted to the ICU at the Queen’s Medical Center and was in a medically-induced coma.

On June 26, 2019, her husband Duane “Dog” Chapman revealed that Beth had died at age 51 after a valiant battle with cancer.

“It’s 5:32 in Hawaii, this is the time she would wake up to go hike Koko Head mountain. Only today, she hiked the stairway to heaven. We all love you, Beth. See you on the other side,” he tweeted.

A rep for the Chapmans said, “Beth died at 5:32 this morning, the same time she would wake up to go hiking Koko Head. The exact same time. She was surrounded by family and Dog was there, holding her hand.”

WGN America expressed their condolences in a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic news that Beth Chapman lost her battle with cancer today. She was an exceptional woman, fiercely loyal and passionate about her family and she was a true joy to work with. All of us at WGN America will miss her tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with Duane, her family, loved ones and millions of fans.”
