Ann Marie LaFlamme Bio
Ann Marie LaFlamme is an American multimedia journalist, reporter and anchor at WXMI-TV in Detroit. She was born and raised in Rochester Hills.
Ann Marie attended Notre Dame Preparatory High School, Pontiac, MI graduating in June 2005. She graduated from Central Michigan University in May 2009 with Bachelor of Applied Arts. While at CMU, she anchored and reported for News Central 34, an award winning student-run newscast. She was also named the broadcasting programs ‘Best Writer,’ was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America, the Student Recreation Association and high jumped for the women’s track and field team. In July 2011, she graduated from Los Angeles Reporters Clinic, Los Angeles, CA.
Ann Marie was a Community Correspondent and interned at CBS/CW50 in Detroit. She also worked as an auto show presenter and as a freelance journalist. She joined 9&10 news team in August 2011. She left 9&10 news in March 2013 to join FOX 17.
LaFlamme worked at FOX 17 as an anchor and reporter. She hosted the weekly FOX 17 segment, “West Michigan’s Most Wanted,” and also produced the weekly “Forever Home” segment featuring foster children searching for families.
When it was time for her to leave FOX 17 in March 2015, FOX 17 News Director Brooks Blanton said he appreciated LaFlamme’s hard work and wished her well in the future.
“Ann Marie is a talented journalist and always worked hard to break big stories during her two years with us,” Brook said. “She played a key role in launching our ‘West Michigan’s Most Wanted’ segments, and her work alongside law enforcement agencies has resulted in several fugitives being captured over the past few months.”
She joined WXYZ-TV in Detroit in March 2015, where she currently works as a reporter and anchor.
She has been awarded Orchards Children’s Services Champions for Children Advocate Award for her work helping recruit foster parents and finding loving families for foster children in Michigan. She is also a volunteer with Special Olympics Michigan, The Miracle League, Humane Society.
