Allison Williams is an American sports reporter and Journalist. She is a Sideline Reporter for ESPN. Williams joined ESPN in March 2011. She works across a number of college sports, including football and basketball. In 2016, Williams moved from Friday night college football games to the Saturday slot on ABC/ESPN and currently works with play-by-play commentator Bob Wischusen and analyst Dan Orlovsky. She the former host for select pregame/postgame shows for Marlins Live. She did field reporting with play-by-play man Rich Waltz and color commentator Tommy Hutton.

On October 17, 2021, longtime ESPN college football and basketball reporter Allison Williams announced via social media that she intends to leave ESPN rather than comply with parent company Disney’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all employees.
Williams, who has covered college football and basketball sidelines for ESPN since 2011, announced via Twitter on Sept. 9 that for the first time in 15 years would not be on the sidelines during ESPN’s college football broadcasts because she had declined the COVID-19 vaccine, violating Disney’s mandate that all staffers at live events be vaccinated by the beginning of August, then expanded it to all employees on Oct. 22.
In a five-minute video posted to her Instagram account, Williams explained her decision, stating that she is “so morally and ethically not aligned” with the vaccine mandate as she and her husband are looking to have another child.
Williams cited anecdotal evidence of women experiencing health problems after getting the vaccine as one of the reasons for her decision not to follow the company mandate.
However, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated on its official website that there is currently no evidence the COVID vaccines cause fertility problems in women and men, and that “the benefits of receiving a COVID-19 vaccine outweigh any known or potential risks of vaccination during pregnancy.”
In a statement to USA Today, ESPN declined to provide any specifics regarding Williams’ situation, saying: “We are going through a thorough review of accommodation requests on a case by case basis, and are granting accommodations consistent with our legal obligations. Our focus is on a safe work environment for everyone.”
“Ultimately, I cannot put a paycheck over principle, and I will not sacrifice something that I believe and hold so strongly to maintain a career,” Williams said in the video.
