Aldo Ortado is an Italian-born Australian chef, Restaurant manager, teacher, and a reality television personality. He currently serves as a Restaurant manager at a local Italian restaurant known as Giro Osteria in Sydney, Australia. In 2018, he was a contestant in the tenth series of the Australian cooking game show MasterChef Australia. In 2022, it was announced that Aldo will participate in the fourteenth series of MasterChef Australia also known as Fans & Favourites.

Aldo was born in Italy and he was raised near Naples, in southern Italy where sharing food was the essence of daily life. He says that each day his Nonna Lucia would ask him what he wanted for lunch and dinner, and he remembers always asking for pasta with cannellini beans and fresh mussels. His Nonna’s food wasn’t fancy, it was all about fresh ingredients and comfort eating. The early cooking lessons from his Nonna Lucia saw him become a hugely popular contestant in the tenth series of MasterChef Australia in 2018.

He graduated from high school in 2009 and later moved to Rome to pursue statistics. After four years in Rome, Aldo moved to Sydney, Australia to seek new opportunities. He initially worked at an event and catering business where he served as a food attendant on the floor. He later landed his current job and started working as a restaurant manager at a local Italian restaurant called Giro Osteria.

The new series will feature 12 new contestants and 12 former contestants. The show will start airing on April 18, 2022, on Network 10.

On April 2, 2022, Aldo was announced as one of the contestants returning for the 14th season of the Australian cooking game show MasterChef Australia. He also confirmed his appearance via his official Instagram, Aldo wrote, “I just can’t believe I’m doing this again. The blessing, the privilege, the passion and mostly important the love for food is what made me decide to comeback.” Aldo was a contestant in the show’s 10th series in 2018. He was eliminated on 21 June 2018. He finished in 13th place. Sashi Cheliah won the series on 31 July 2018.
